The Horrors

SINGLE REVIEW

If you've heard The Horrors before, specifically "Count in Fives", then you already know exactly what this sounds like, you've probably made up your mind about them and don't need to concern yourself with the rest of the review. For those of you yet to be subjected to "the" band of 2007, let me describe the faux-goths' latest single, "Gloves" for you. Some admittedly funky guitars, and "spooky" keyboards are the backing for lead singer Faris' best Dave Vanian impression as slack-jawed kids across the country decide which member has the best hair (clue: none of them). It's all very tedious - basically being the 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster without a single iota of that band's invention, menace or sheer noise.

2/5
